Hourly (1099): $85/hr Full-time, 40+ hours/week, Fully remote

About the client

Tidal’s customer is an innovative physician compensation company that automates the calculation of physician compensation and allows doctors to see their performance continuously throughout the year. Our solution helps healthcare providers adjust their practice based on rapid feedback, while finance teams save time and reduce the risks of compensation miscalculations.


The Challenge

Health systems and independent physician groups currently face significant challenges in calculating and managing physician compensation. The process is expensive, time-consuming, and prone to errors. This leads to mistrust between physicians and their employers, potentially resulting in high turnover rates and substantial recruitment costs.


The Job

As a Senior Product Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping product strategy and ensuring its successful implementation. You will be the bridge between our customers' needs, our product capabilities, and our development processes, with a strong focus on managing customer implementations at large health systems. You'll work closely with analysts and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

Excellent customer communication and management skills are crucial to this position. Candidates must have prior experience communicating with financial stakeholders, especially in the context of healthcare systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the product development lifecycle from conception to launch, ensuring alignment with company strategy and customer / user needs

  • Collaborate with Compensation Product Analysts to analyze and interpret complex provider compensation models, guiding the translation into actionable product requirements

  • Partner with engineering teams to define and prioritize product backlog

  • Oversee the quality assurance process on compensation calculations, working with Compensation Product Analysts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and leadership

  • Create and maintain product roadmaps, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategic goals

  • Drive continuous improvement in our product development and QA processes

  • Mentor junior product team members and contribute to the growth of the product organization

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for large healthcare institutions during the implementation phase

  • Manage the entire customer implementation process, from requirements gathering to go-live and beyond, coordinating efforts across different teams

  • Collaborate with Compensation Product Analysts and UX designers to create compensation and P&L dashboards for physicians, financial teams, and clinical leadership

  • Identify and prioritize product improvements to lower costs and complexity of customer implementations


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in healthcare technology or fintech

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies

  • Experience in healthcare finance or physician compensation is highly desirable

  • Understanding of healthcare regulations related to physician compensation

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment

  • Proven track record of successful customer implementations in large health systems or similarly complex environments

  • Deep understanding of healthcare IT systems, particularly those related to finance and physician management

  • Experience in coordinating teams to reverse engineer complex compensation models and translate them into software requirements

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes implementations simultaneously

  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and integration challenges in healthcare environments

  • Knowledge of change management principles and experience guiding customers through significant process changes

  • Understanding of healthcare compliance requirements, particularly those affecting physician compensation (e.g., Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute)

  • Problem Solving: Adept at finding creative solutions to complex implementation challenges, balancing customer needs with product capabilities

  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled at navigating complex organizational structures and aligning diverse stakeholder groups towards common goals

  • Team Collaboration: Excellent at fostering a collaborative environment, coordinating efforts between Compensation Product Analysts, engineers, and other team members to achieve optimal results

  • Cross-functional Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams without direct authority, ensuring all team members are aligned and working efficiently towards common goals


Writing Clear Engineering Requirements
  • Ability to create detailed, unambiguous user stories with clear acceptance criteria

  • Skill in breaking down complex features into manageable, implementable tasks

  • Proficiency in using requirement management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) to document and track requirements

  • Experience in creating and maintaining a comprehensive product backlog

  • Capability to write technical specifications that bridge business needs and engineering implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineers to refine and clarify requirements throughout the development process


General Agile Project Management
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban

  • Experience in facilitating Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives)

  • Skill in sprint planning and backlog grooming to ensure team productivity and alignment with product goals

  • Ability to manage and communicate project timelines, risks, and dependencies effectively

  • Proficiency in using Agile project management tools to track progress and generate reports

  • Experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the development team

  • Capability to adapt Agile practices to fit the specific needs of the team and project

  • Demonstrated ability to balance Agile flexibility with the need for predictable delivery in customer-facing projects
